Chronic Gut Inflammation Could Spark Colon Cancer Chronic inflammation within the gut can increase the risk of colon cancer by up to 500%. This is according to researchers from Duke University on a study published online.

Xiling Shen, Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Duke University, tells us that gut inflammation affects a quarter of the world’s population. “These patients have a higher chance of developing colon cancer,” he says.

The reasons for this are unclear but now researchers believe they established the link. The researchers knew that miR-34a accounts for the cancerous stem cell population and its ability to generate a diverse set of cells. This puzzled researchers for some time. The latest study, however, indicates that when the subject’s tissues develop inflammation, the stem cells quickly grew out of control. This is where the tumor-like structures form.

The study indicates that while miR-34a is active in cancer, it actually has positive benefits. When it’s triggered to act and the gut becomes inflamed, the miR-34a forces the asymmetrical division process. This helps with controlling the normal stem cell populations. It’s when the cancer cells progress however that the problems begin. When the miR-34a is shut off, this causes the flexible cells to develop into flexible hybrids. Consequently, they revert back into stem cells when needed. But it’s the flexibility that can make late-stage cancers difficult to eradicate.

Ultimately this means that catching inflammation in the early stages could prevent the progress of colon cancer. One way to avoid inflammation is to assess lifestyle choices and look at daily eating habits. This means checking food consumption and avoiding inflammation forming foods. These include starchy carbohydrates (breads, pastries, cereal, wheat pasta). In addition, sugary or processed foods can also increase inflammation within the body.

To prevent inflammation that’s currently in the body, start by taking serrapeptase. This is a proteolytic enzyme from the silkworm intestine but now manufactured in a laboratory. Its purpose is to dissolve and then digest inflammation in the body. It then safely eliminates it via the bloodstream.

Once Serrapeptase removes the inflammation, many painful symptoms associated with various health conditions improve. Many people find that they are in good health once again. Find out more about Serrapeptase here.
