Administering tablets to dogs, cats, horses or other small pets is easy when you know how. Find out by following the guidance from the instructions below…
Administering Tablets to Dogs
- 1. Open the muzzle.
- 2. Place the tablet at the back of the throat.
- 3. Close the muzzle.
- 4. Keep it closed and stroke the throat until the dog swallows. That’s how the vets do it.
Administering Tablets to Horses
- Place in a small piece of carrot or apple. Allow them to eat it.
My cat has glomerulonephritis. Will serrap. help and dosage please?
Jennifer,
This is a tough question for two reason:
1. Although it is inflammation of the blood vessels in the kidney it can take many forms (in other words they dont really know what causes it).
2. Cat are not great at taking supplements and even when it can be mixed into their foods.
My Plan:
SerraPet 1 tablet (tiny) x 2 times per day away from food
CurcuminX4000 2 capsules, opened and mixed with food
Prescript Assist 1 capsule, opened and mixed with food.

My question is in regards to administering pills to savvy dogs. Are you familiar with a vet-formulated product called Vetoquinol, and if so, do you think it could have a detrimental health effect (over time) due to its sugary content? My dog locks her jaws firmly shut in defiance to pills, so there is no way to do as you suggest above. Would it be okay to use this pill wrap with serrapeptase caps, since it contains no protein that I’m aware of? Would beef broth be acceptable to give as a chaser or not?
Karen,
I do not normally recommend sugary things for me or my dog but it is worth using to get the power of the tablet in.
Email me the details for a better evaluate of these.
Robert
I thought that by removing the capsule, the serrapeptase would become ineffective due to stomach acids. Your instructions for horses indicates that you break the capsule AND give it with food.
Can you please clarify?
Hi Lorraine,
No we do recommend that the capsule remains intact, and often the tablet is easier as they are enteric coated, so will pass through the stomach intact. You can put them in with the feed and the horse will not even notice them. If they are not having a feed you can hollow out a carrot or push them in to some apple or even just mix them in with a small handful of chaff, they have no taste or smell so the horse does not even know they are there.

Hi my 700lbs pony suffered choke and the vet said he may have injured or tore his throat if injured he will have scare tissue and swelling I have 250.000 serrapeptase how many should I give him or are the to strong
thanks
Hi Doreen,
Start the pony on 6 a day for a couple of weeks, preferably a month, then reduce to 4 a day. If the pony is not on any hard feed then the capsules can just be added to a handful of chaff or molly chop and a bit of warm water. It is best to separate the dose, so half in the morning and half at night.

Hi, I am giving my cat serapet, for inflammation in his elbow, he is semi feral so it would be impossible to administer the tablet directly in the mouth so I have to put it in food, ive been using a liver pate but is obviously protein! Do you know of any non protein foods I could give it in and is it right it should be whole as he crunches it as he eats it (He doesn’t like marmite).
Many thanks
Belinda
Hi Belinda,
Yes ideally it is better to use a non-protein food, however, this is not always possible with pets we understand. A small amount of protein food given to the cat to administer the serrapet is fine, but try to keep away from the main meal for at least 30 minutes. It is normal for pets to often crush the tablets when eating, they will still get the benefit from the enzyme.

Hi, I have a little pet starling. He is crippled in both legs. Fell from a nest as a little baby. His legs are inflamed. Can I open up a capsule and put it in water for him. Thanks for your help.
Hi Paul, yes you can open up the capsule and add it to water, as long as he would drink it quickly before the powder settles to the bottom. Alternatively, you could mix the powder and water in a syringe and administer it that way. This may be more effective at getting the serrapeptase into the system. I hope that helps.

SerraPet 1 tablet x 2 times per day 30 mins before feeding
CurcuminX4000 1 cap opened and and mixed with food x 2 times per day
Prescript Assist 1 cap per day, mixed with food.
And you can also give the Serrapet to your other cats to help with their inflammatory conditions.

The alternative is grim 🙁
Hi Andy, we would recommend the Serrapet for you dog, to help with inflammation. Take as directed for his size on the product.

first of al thank you for promoting this web And all the valueable Information that you share. THANK YOU!
My dog has fibrocistic Lung desease and I hace started with a dos agentes of 60.000 IU he is 20 pounds, How much should i encrease the dossage And How can I support the healing of the new tissue. I’ve been considering Omega 3 + cummin + wheat grass And removing gluten from his diet. Thanks again.
Hi Ainhoa, thank you for your kind words regarding the website. We would recommend the Serrapet (80,000iu per capsule) for your dog to help with the fibrocystic lung disease, as directed. For a small dog take 1-2 per day, and for a Medium/large dog take 3-4 per day. You can also add in around 2 caps per day of the Serranol, which combines serrapeptase and curcumin. We would recommend the full support and monitoring by a vet.
I hope that helps

sir what is dose of seratopeptidase in mg for horses suffering fr joint pain
regards
sincerely
NAVEEN KUMAR
INDIA
Hi Naveen, the recognized unit of measurement for serrapeptase is IU (international units) as this measures the enzyme’s activity level. This is what we are interested in to help measure the potency of the enzyme, not the weight in mg. In terms of IU we would recommend up to 8 per day of the Serrapet 80,000iu potency.
I hope that helps.

Will serraenzyme help with canine lymphoma? My dog was diagnosed three weeks ago and is doing pretty good at this time. I will not be doing chemo or prednisone. I am feeding him a whole foods diet, and would like to see if there are other supplements that could hep him. Thank you!
Hi Brenda, I am sorry to hear about your dog’s current situation. The products we would recommend are:
SerraPet at as high a dose as poss depending on the size and breed of your dog – feel free to ask if you need more confirmation other than going by the guideline.
(Further SerraEnzyme 250,000IU can also be added if felt necessary)
CurcuminX4000 up to 3 per day.
Prescript-Assist – 1 per day (again being unsure of the size of your dog).
Also see our cancer plan, although this is of course for human use, and we can’t directly instruct it for animal use, many people do follow the same plans and have anecdotal success. I would include the Graviola.

Thank you so much for your response! I should have been more specific, I apologize. My dog is 75 pounds, a mix of maybe shepherd, boxer and ridgeback, and is 4.5 years old.
I had already ordered a bottle of SerraEnzyme 80,000IU Serrapeptase by GoodHealthNaturallyNutrition before I received your reply. Should I do 3 of those capsules per day in addition to the SerraPet and Prescript-Assist? I already have a lot of a turmeric product that I have been giving him (and the holistic vet tested him as a 10 out of 10 with kinesiology for that one).
I appreciate you r help so much!
Brenda
Hi Brenda, thank you for providing us with further information. The SerraEnzyme and the Serrapet are essentially the same product, just labelled different for marketing purposes. So you are fine to continue with the SerraEnzyme that you have already purchased. The general dose is 3-4 per day for a medium dog of the 80,000iu, but you are fine to increase to the higher dose, around 6 per day, and reduce back down after a couple of weeks or so. You can give him these as well as the Prescript Assist.
I hope that helps

Thank you so much for the additional help and information!
My question is i have serra enzyme and my uncle said its the same and i can give it to my cat. Its all i have right now. Have no money
Hi Michelle, yes the SerraEnzyme is the same as Serrapet so you are fine to give this to your cat. For a cat we recommend 1-2 tablets/capsules per day 80,000iu.
My dog has nerve damage to back of neck from an accident. He is stiff and sore and in therapy – chiro/cold laser/ultra sound combo but looking for a supplement to help the healing along. This was suggested. My question is I ordered Doctor’s Best Potency Serrapeptase for me but it’s 120,000 SPU. Can I give him this as well? Seems silly to order another one of the same thing.
And is it okay to break the caps and half it for him? He’s under 20 lbs so figured 60,000 units would work. Or should he be on more because his condition is traumatic right now? Also usually best if I add water and syringe it. Is this ok? Will it change the effect? It’s a BATTLE to get a pill down that throat without a treat and you mentioned no food.
Many thanks in advance for your advice.
Hi Leney, we can appreciate how hard it is to get tablets into pets sometimes, and although it is ideal to keep away from food this is not always possible with animals. Therefore, we suggest, to avoid any undue stress to the animal, to give to them with a bit of their favourite food. Ideally this would be a non-protein food, but if not possible then a small amount of any food will be fine, and you will only weaken the effect of the enzyme slightly. You can always give them a bit more of the serrapeptase to compensate for this. I hope that helps

I have a mini dachshund just diagnosed with Pancreatitis, and it has been suggested that giving her serrapet would help. She is about 4kilo so if suitable, what amount should I give her and which grade should I use?
Hello Elizabeth,
1 SerraPet tablet x 3 times per day is good. It does no harm to give more to be clear. Stop all foods and treats with any carbs (grains and cereals) and keep food to meat and greens.
Take care

Dose for 1100# 4 yr old horse with suspensory ligament adhesions?
Hi Pamela, for a horse we recommend 6-8 per day of the Serrapet.
Would the dosage be the same if he was infested with worms for up to a year with incysted Strongyles being a huge factor with the scarring through the stomach and digestive tract being extreme?
Yes we would still advise the same dose of serrapeptase.
I have a 110lb 12yr old German Shepherd that went through treatment for an auto immune disorder 2 years ago. He was on a high dose of antibiotic (750mg clindamycin twice a day) and a very high dose of prednisone (lowest dose being 100mg day) for three months. The tumor in is neck went away (confirmed by a CT) after treatment, as did his red itchy skin. The prednisone caused muscle atrophy in his legs and we had to slowly work with him to even get him up to walk on his own. He never fully recovered from the affects of the prednisone. As of 3 weeks ago we noticed the raw, red skin is coming back and he has pain in his neck when he looks up and has a horrible snotty nose. Took him to the emergency vet for sudden onset weakness and his blood work looked fine and they stated his snot nose was probably allergies. They gave him sulfameth for 14 days for possible infection that would cause the drippy nose issue and it did nothing.
How much of the Serrapeptase do I give him and for how long? I need to know how much to buy.
Thanks,
Heather
Hello Heather, there is no set time frame as serrapeptase is safe for long term use by both humans and animals. For a medium to large dog we recommend Serrapet 3-4 tablets per day.

What is the youngest age you can give this to Equines?
Hi Pamela, the SerraEnzyme from Good Health Naturally is 100% safe for equines of any age, even pregnant mares.

I have a 7 year old Border Collie and he has a huge, hard lump on his back near the tail. He also has smaller lumps all over his body and even in his neck. There’s no hair loss in the area where he has these lumps (still has a luscious double coat) and he’s just as active as ever. What dosage would you recommend for him? Thank you!
Hi Shay, for a medium to large dog we recommend 3-4 tablets per day of the Serrapet or equivalent SerraEnzyme 80,000iu
I have a 550kg horse with severe Laminitis. She is under Veterinary care and currently taking either Phenylbutazone or Danilon as pain-relief/anti-inflammatory. Is Serraenzyme 250,000iu safe to give alongside the painkillers? (I already have some in the cupboard.) She is shut in a double-stable and unable to even be hand-walked until pain-free. This is a vicious cyle as without exercise her Lymphatic system remains sluggish and excess Insulin unable to be moved from her system and so the toxins are building up in the blood which is creating further pain and inflammation. Will the Serraenzyme help to clean up her blood? What dose should she have daily of the 250,000iu? Any advice very much appreciated. Many thanks.
Hi Sara, we would suggest to go in with around 6 per day of the SerraEnzyme 250,000iu, for best results. Gradually reduce down as some relief is felt.
Your Good Health Coaching Team
Many thanks for your reply, Lindsay. Have started her on 6 x 250,000iu today. Will continue with suggested doseage and see how she gets on.
I have an 1800lbs Horse who has developed arthritis in his neck vertebrae. Serrapeptase has been my savior for pain the last 6 yrs. I called the manufacturer & asked how I could get therapeutic dose in him & they said it was not possible. I’ve read stories about successes w Equine before so is it possible to get a formulation in them that remains in tact long enough to be absorbed & effective for pain?
Hello Chrisine, we have many customers who successfully use serrapeptase with their horses, including some well known show jumpers who are enormous advocates of the enzyme.
Many go in quite hard at first with around 6 per day of the Maximum Strength SerraEnzyme 250,000iu, and reduce down as some relief is felt.
I hope that helps

Hi
Can serrapet be given for prevention??
Or only as treatment??
I have two cavaliers
What would be the dosage?
Hello Elaine, SerraPet can be used at any time, and many people give to their pets for general health now. Follow the guide on the bottle for their size.

I have a 1,000 pound horse with scarring above his hoof causing lameness and a 250 pound pony with sever rotation in her coffin bones from a bad founder. The pony also is covered in mineralized lipomas. She also has a cresty neck. I am looking at the Serra Plus for both of them. How much do I give each?
Hi Jeanne, we would suggest to go with the Maximum Strength SerraEnzyme 250,000iu for both your horse and pony for best results. Use around 6 per day, and review their progress on an ongoing basis.

Jeanne, try magnesium oxide and/or magnesium Malate for Crest neck and Laminitis. My husband is a Farrier and we have done extensive studies on magnesium and metabolic disturbances in horses. See also Dr. Eleanor Kellon DVM, Metabolic specialist.
Could I put the serrapeptase capsule contents into water and syringe into my 22 pound bobtail cat ? He is not a good one to pill for me as he is so large.. He has a bad back that causes him to jerk and lick the air or his back sometimes and he has licked all the fur off from just above his bobtail area 4 x3″ and his right flank the same. The area on his back is heated.
I was able to get 4 days treatments in his mouth and down, then he refused because he was feeling so much better and the heat had left his back! Thank the Lord!! I want him to be healed and out of pain, poor fella.
Hello Debbie, thanks for your question. Yes, that is fine, you can syringe the Serrapeptase into your cat. Kind Regards, The Serrapeptase.info Team
